East Football Association champions La Horquetta Sporting Academy are just a point away from playing in the semi-professional National Super League for the first time in their short history.

The LH Boys have the game of their lives on Sunday when they travel to Madras ground, Cunupia, for a top-of-the-table clash with Central champions Coosal’s Las Lomas Utd, in the penultimate round of the 2014 National Super League Qualify Series. A point is good enough to give La Horquetta one of two qualifying spots.

Formerly the Champion of Champions tournament, the series is being contested by six 2013 zonal football champions, and will see the top two finishers over a five-match round robin series promoted to the Super League this season.

Last Sunday, La Horquetta edged Eastern Counties champions Matura Reunited 2-1 for a third victory of the series, after previously beating Tobago’s Goal City (1-0) and North champions Queen’s Park (4-1). Meanwhile, La Lomas took their record to one win and two draws,  after a 2-2 stalemate with Goal City in Tobago.
