JOE PUBLIC maintained a healthy six-point lead in the bmobile National Super League after cruising past cellar-placed East/West Coaching School 2- 0 in a Match Day Nine encounter on Sunday.
Harvard leapt from fourth to second spot on the 13-team standings after a 6-2 mauling of Club Sando who, as a result, dropped one place to fourth.
The fans at the Trinity College ground, Moka, Maraval saw Harvard take a two-goal lead with Dwight Dowdy scoring in the third minute and Damien Pompey the sixth minute.
But Sando brought the scores level through Keith Williams in the 30th and Andy London in the 34th.
Sando’s joy was short-lived as Harvard dominated the rest of the match, with Shatton Ollivierre scoring in the 41st, Garvin Gulston netting twice, in the 65th and 73rd, and Christon Freitas completing the rout in the 80th.
Another team who netted a half-dozen goals was 1976 FC Phoenix, who dismissed 11th-placed St Francois Nationals 6-1 at Canaan, Bon Accord.
Veteran striker Dominique Kerr registered a hat-trick, in the 69th, 85th and 90th minutes, while Lejandro Williams added two (36th and 78th) and Andell Noray the other (38th).
Another veteran player, midfielder and captain Marc Borde, notched the consolation item for St Francois, in the 54th.
The day’s other battle was a high-scoring affair, as the others, with Queen’s Park spanking Harlem Strikers 5-2 at Frederick Settlement in Caroni.
Scoring two goals apiece for the Parkites were Vladimir Henderson-Suite (17th and 75th) and Chike Phillip (77th and 90th) while Jason Charles netted the other (51st).
Daniel Wells (25th) and Anthony Andrews (80th) got their names on the score-sheet for the hosts. One rescheduled match will take place today at Bon Accord, as Phoenix will host Joe Public from 4 pm.
