Joe Public got a goal from four different players, as it whipped Queen’s Park 4-2 in a bmobile National Super League top-of-the-table clash at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya on Tuesday night.
Forward Ricardo Bennett opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute for the host with Dorian Robinson doubling the lead in the 18th minute. However, the Parkites, newcomers to the league and enjoying a good run, reduced the deficit a minute later to trail 2-1 at the interval.
Four minutes into the second half, Dexter Thornhill extended the lead to 3-1 but the determined Parkites drew level again, through defender Daniel Mc Kell for a 3-2 scoreline after 57 minutes.
With eight minutes left in the match, Keston Henry scored to make it 4-2 and seal all three points for Joe Public to push its tally to 37 points from 13 matches, seven ahead of league debutants, T&TEC.
Queen’s Park remained on 22 points in fifth spot, the same tally as M&M Harvard, Angostura 1976 Phoenix and Defence Force. In the first match at Macoya, M&M Harvard moved into third place despite being held to a 1-1 draw by second-from-the-bottom St Francois Nationals.
Glen Walker gave Harvard the lead with a 19th minute strike, an advantage it held until the 77th minute when the Nationals drew level compliments of a Gabriel St John Strike. League matches resume Sunday.
