Joe Public increased its lead at the top of the standings after claiming its 14th win as play in the bmobile National Super League continued yesterday. The “Eastern Lions” eased to a 4–0 humbling of Club Sando in their encounter at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya.
Donovan Derrick netted a double in the 64th and 69th minutes to make it 3–0, after an own goal by Al Sinclair in the 21st give Public the early lead. Ricardo Bennett then added the finishing touches with a strike in the 87th minute to seal the result.
The Macoya based team which went into this round two points ahead of second place T&TEC, now has some space to breathe for the while as the power company’s clash with the Defence Force had to be postponed. Meanwhile a hat-trick from Michael Lee Celestine gave WASA a 3–2 win over Queen’s Park Cricket Club in their match at the WASA Ground.
Queen’s Park took the lead through Otis Burris in the 20th minute but this was cancelled by Celestine’s first strike a minute later. The “Parkites” regained the lead as Lorne Joseph found the net in the 42nd to give them a 2–1 advantage at the half.
