Darren Mitchell scored a first-half brace as 1976 Angostura Phoenix secured the sixth qualifying spot from the bmobile Super League to T&T Football Federation FA competition on Wednesday.
Playing in a knockout play-off encounter at Caanan Ground, Bon Accord, Mitchell scored in the 18th and 29th for a 2-1 advantage after Club Sando had taken a fifth lead through Stefon Brereton.
Four minutes into the second-half Dave Grimshaw extended the lead to 3-1 while Al Sinclair conceded an own-goal in the 52 minute to put the home team 4-1 in front.
Marlon Minguel sliced the lead in half for Club Sando in the 78th minute, but it was to late as Phoenix now joins knockout winners, Economy Strikers, Queen’s Park, Defence Force, M&M Harvard and league champions, bmobile Joe Public in the FA draw.
