DEFENDING champions Joe Public were held to a goalless draw by St Francois Nationals, while last year's runners-up T&TEC had the biggest opening round win of the new bmobile National Super League season, coming away with a 3-0 victory over Club Sando on Sunday.

T&TEC impressed all in their debut season in 2009 when just failing to hold off Joe Public and they started 2010 with a flyer, getting goals from Jamal Ayres (20th, 23rd) and Dexter Francis (15th) to defeat Club Sando.

Scoring 3-1 victories were former champs WASA over M&M Harvard and 2009 knockout champs 1976 FC Phoenix against Stokely Vale FC.

At Chaguaramas, WASA had a few familiar names on the scoresheet, Sherwin Charles giving them an early lead in the eighth minute, which was doubled by former Trinidad and Tobago national striker Darin Lewis, as the Water Boys led 2-0 away from home. Christon Freitas got Harvard back into the match at 2-1 when scoring in the 76th minute, but former Jabloteh midfielder Fabian Garcia earned WASA full points with an 84th minute winner.

Phoenix won the "Tobago derby" over newly-promoted Stokely Vale at Canaan. Dion Thomas would have had Stokely Vale's home fans smiling when giving them a 30th minute lead, but Phoenix roared back to level through prolific scorer Dominic Kerr (68th). Stokely Vale must have at least been expecting a point but that expectation disappeared when late goals from Leandro Williams (83rd) and Kerr (90th) won the game for Phoenix.
