Club Sando ensured that T&TEC remained sole leaders, holding defending champion bmobile Joe Public to a hard fought 0-0 draw in a re-scheduled match of the bmobile National Super League at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, yesterday.
The “Eastern Lions” went into this match in third position, three points behind the “Electricity Boys” and they were fancying a win over Sando which stood fourth from the bottom.
However, it was not to be for the Macoya based team, as the San Fernando team fought dearly to secure its eighth point from nine league matches. Public, on the other hand, has now moved a point closer to the leaders, with its fourth draw in ten matches.
As a result of this outcome, T&TEC, the only remaining unbeaten team, could have some breathing space if they win their final match of the first round.
The 2009 runners-up could move to four points clear at the top of the standings if they could get past 1976 Phoenix, when the two teams meet in another re-scheduled match on Wednesday, at the Palo Seco Velodrome, Palo Seco, at 4 pm.
Fixtures Wednesday
• Valtrin v Stokely Vale, NUGFW Ground, Valsayn, 4 pm.
• T&TEC v Phoenix, Palo Seco Velodrome, Palo Seco, 4 pm.
