Darron Williams netted twice to help fourth placed Stokely Vale come from behind to hold on for a 2-2 draw against league leaders T&TEC, in their Match Day 17 encounter of the bmobile National Super League, at the Plymouth Recreation ground, Tobago, yesterday.
This means the “Electricity Boys” were only able to increase their lead by one to 34 at the top of the rankings.
The inform Kevon Neaves gave the power company a 1-0 lead after 35 minutes, as they looked to rebound from their embarrassing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tobago Football Association club Goal City in the T&T Football Federation (TTFF) FA Cup Round of 32 match on Wednesday.
However, the Tobagonians, who are in their debut season, were bent on coming away with a point, and Williams brought them level in the 37th minute from the penalty spot, and the teams went to the break locked at 1-1.
However, T&TEC, once again took the lead, when Bevon Bass found the back of the net after just four minutes into the second half.
With six minutes left, it appeared that the leaders would have left the sister isle with three points, but this was not to be as Williams tucked in his second to level the score 2-2, four minutes from time.
While T&TEC remained unbeaten with ten wins, this was their fourth drawn match. On the other hand, Stokely Vale inched to 20 points from their 14 matches, which include six wins and two draws, with six defeats.
Meanwhile fellow utility company WASA, who sit in second, failed to further close the gap on the leaders, as they were edged out by another Tobago club, 1976 Phoenix, at the Canaan, Bon Accord, venue.
Phoenix, who got the winner from Le-Jandro Williams on the stroke of half-time, has moved within a point of the “Water Boys” on 28 points. This was WASA’s third defeat in their 14 matches, having won nine and drawn two.
