Keron Phillip scored in the final minute of play to lift Stokely Vale back to winning ways on match day three of the National Super League, yesterday.
The match which was played at the Plymouth Recreation Ground, Tobago saw a keenly contested encounter in which home team Stokely Vale defeated Eagles United 3-1. Stokely Vale forward Dion Thomas opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a close range effort.
Tyrone Manning then doubled up in similar circumstances in the 33rd minute to put the side 2-0 up at half time. Eagles attempted a late comeback when Bernard McCall netted in the 86th minute, but his effort proved futile when the defence opened up several minutes later allowing Phillip to run on to a loose ball to score the winner.
The match was a clean encounter with only one booking delivered to Carmichael Sealey in the 53rd minute. Stokely Vale are now on six points after three matches following the win, while Eagles remain on one point from two losses and a draw.
Match day three will continue tomorrow when Defence Force welcomes Real Maracas at the Youth Camp in Chaguaramas at 3.30 pm.
At 4 pm, St Francois Nationals will take on 1976 Phoenix at the Hasely Crawford Stadium training field on Wrightson Road while WASA travels to Club Sando Giants home turf at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella.
In the last match on the day, bmobile Joe Public will take on West Side Super Starzs at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya from 4.30 pm.
