Isaiah Hudson netted a hat-trick and Nate Brooks a double, while teammates Jarod Gordon, Keston Julien, Anjani Mc Intyre and Jeron Pantor added to the tally as W Connection Under-17 footballers whipped St. Ann’s Rangers 9-0 last Sunday to move to the top of their division standings after Round Two Match Day Three in the Malta Carib Youth Pro League 2015.
However the “Savonetta Boys” are only ahead of previous leaders North East Stars, now second, and third placed San Juan Jabloteh by goal-difference, as all three are tied on 28 points.
Jabloteh, hosting North East Stars at San Juan North Secondary, defeated the visitors 4-0 through a double by Jeankeon Alexander (41st and 71st minutes), netting on either side of the break, following an opening goal from Haile Beckles (30th minute), then Tristan Perrotte (79th minute) wrapped up the scoring.
While at the Gilbert Park in Couva, W Connection were enjoying their move to the top of the standings courtesy their 9-0 win over Rangers and the help of Jabloteh.
Gordon opened the scoring 9th minute for the Connection U17s before 14-year-old Hudson, who later scored in the 45th and 48th minutes, had his first in the 22nd minute. Hudson, an aspiring footballer with a lot of potential, became the youngest player to ever take the field in the history of the Pro League senior division last May when he featured for W Connection in a 3-2 defeat to Jabloteh at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in the final match of the 2014/2015 Digicel Pro League championship.
But last Sunday, in a division also superior to his age, Hudson and his U17 teammates were celebrating a win over Rangers that included goals from Brooks in the 24th and 47th minutes, Julien in the 33rd minute, Mc Intyre in the 70th minute and Pantor in the 72nd minute.
Earlier, W Connection played to a 2-2 draw against Rangers in the Under-13 division before a Jevaughn Humphrey 66th minute goal earned the “Savonetta Boys”’ U15s a slim 1-0 win in that division.
Despite the win, W Connection (22 points) continues to occupy fifth placed on the U15 standings which Jabloteh (33 points) continues to lead although being held to a 1-1 draw by second placed North East Stars (28 points).
Point Fortin Civic edged Club Sando 1-0 thanks to a Nion Lammy 16th minute goal to leapfrog the defeated opponents for third by goal-difference but both are tied on 23 points after Round Two Match Day Four.
Police FC surprised sixth placed Central FC (15 points) to a 1-0 win, courtesy a 9th minute Zinidene Assing goal to move one spot off the bottom and into ninth position with 8 points, while Caledonia (6 points), who played to a 1-1 draw with seventh placed Defence Force (12 points), dropped tenth.
Caledonia’s Under-13s however, were in winners’ row, defeating Defence Force 2-0 with Malachai Daniel scoring in the 21st minute and Atiba Weeks converting from the penalty spot in the 43rd minute to keep the Morvant/Laventille side within three points of leaders San Juan Jabloteh (37 points).
Jabloteh U13s were comfortable 4-0 winners over North East Stars with Josiah Stafford (27th minute), Tyrique Sutherland (40th minute), Dillon Rogers (48th minute) and Jerry Morris (54th minute) all on the score sheet.
And down at the Mahaica Oval, a Noah Simmons’ double earned visitors Club Sando a 2-1 win over Point Fortin Civic in their U13 fixture. Simmons opened the scoring in the 15th minute and scored the winner in the 58th minute after Thaz Neptune had equalised in the 31st minute for Civic.
