Japs North East Stars Under-17s, and Play Whe San Juan Jabloteh Under-15s and Under-13s remained at the top of their respective tables in the Malta Carib Youth Pro League after picking up comfortable victories on the weekend.
The Sangre Grande-based Stars stayed three points clear in the race for the Under-17 crown after outgunning Pt Fortin Civic 4-2 led by a double from Renaldo Francois in the 40th and 85th minutes.
Isaiah Lee and Jabari Bastaldo were also on target for Stars in the 17th and 83rd minutes respectively to carry their points total to 27 from 11 matches, three more than DirecTV W Connection and Jabloteh. Tyrese Toussaint had given Pt Fortin an eighth minute lead and then added another in the 60th minute for the losers, who stayed fourth on the table with 19 points.
In the two other key fixtures, Isaiah Hudson scored in the 23rd and 76th minute for W Connection in a 2-1 win over Central FC which got its reply through Sharkell Louison in the 68th, and Jabloteh also won by a similar 2-1 margin over St Ann’s Rangers with Dominic Douglas (77th) and Trey Hankey (85th) scoring to cancel out Saleem Henry’s 81st minute reply.
And Police needed a 51st minute equaliser from Krishon Alexander to earn a share of the points with Defence Force which led through Tyler Kirton’s 38th minute item. Jabloteh kept seven points ahead of closest challenger Stars in the Under-15 age-group after whipping Rangers 3-1 inspired by a brace from Tyrese Bailey in the first and 12th minutes.
Terrol Burgess pulled a goal back in the 29th minute for Rangers, but Kyle Thomas adding a third on the hour mark for Jabloteh to seal all three points pushing its tally to 31 points, while Stars which edged Pt Fortin Civic 1-0 on a John-Paul Rochford 13th minute effort has 24 points, four more than Club Sando, 2-0 winner over Caledonia AIA.
The Under-13 Division battle is a much closer affair, with Jabloteh (31 points) holding a one point lead over Caledonia. This after Jabloteh blasted Rangers 5-2 with Tyrique Sutherland scoring twice for the winners while Akiba Weeks also banged in a double for Caledonia, 3-0 victors over Club Sando.
