Whim Anglican created history yesterday in the Atlantic Sponsored National Primary School Football League, when they beat seven times champions Arima Boys RC at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago.
This means that for the first time in the history of the competition two teams from the same district will contest the final.
The Tobago District boys runner-up trailed Arima Boys RC after Dwight Yorke put the Eastern based outfit ahead in the fifth minute. The former champion walked off the field 1-0 leaders at the half.
However, Whim fought back doggedly to tie the game through a penalty in the 39th minute through Omalie James. In the 48th minute Whim Anglican went ahead from the penalty spot when James converted yet again.
This sets up another clash between Whim Anglican and ten times champions Bon Accord Government which on Wednesday crushed Tunapuna Boys RC 8-1 in the semifinal at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago.
Tobago’s Girl’s champions, Pentecostal Light and Life continued the fine run of Tobago School Teams with an easy 3-0 successs over Lower Cumuto Government on Wednesday and Longdenville Government which moved into the finals by virtue of their narrow 1-0 win over Vance River in the semifinals of the girls division at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, on Tuesday.
The date for the final is yet to be determined but will be played at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago.
Semifinal Results:
Boys: Whim 2 (Omalie James 39-Pen, 48-Pen) vs Arima Boys RC 1 (Dwight Yorke 5).
