National team midfielder Kevin Molino is hoping that he has a professional contract in Slovakia under his belt by the time this country appears at the Concacaf Gold Cup in the United States next July.
The former Orlando City player was on trial at AS Trencin a few weeks ago, prior to his return to the national team for the ongoing Caribbean Cup Finals in Antigua & Barbuda.
Trencin is the former club of T&T winger Lester Peltier. “I spent some time at Trencin and they seem very interested but we haven’t gotten down to any negotiations because obviously I left to join the national team,” Molino said.
“But I enjoyed my time there and I thought I did pretty well. We’ll see what happens and hopefully by early next year I should have a new contract.”
Regarding his winning goal on Tuesday against Dominican Republic which gave T&T the win that sealed their Gold Cup spot, Molino added, “It’s a major accomplishment for the team.
It kind of makes up for the disappointment of not making the Olympics and by all means it’s our World Cup as well.
I’m really looking forward to it and hopefully by the grace of God I’ll be playing with a contract under my belt and injury free by the time the Gold Cup comes around. I’m really anxious to get the chance to play against some of the other top teams in Concacaf.”
