Turkish-based player Darryl Roberts didn’t make the starting line up for T&T in Monday’s 2-2 draw with El Salvador at the Concacaf Gold Cup but when he did make a second half appearance, he was impressive and almost got himself on the scoresheet with his second touch of the match.
Roberts replaced Kevon Carter on the right and had an immediate impact in T&T’s play.
“It was just one of those things where I came on to do my job and I gave my best for the team. At the time we were in need of a goal and I had to put my best foot forward,” Roberts said.
“Generally we are pleased to have come from a goal down to secure a point but we know we can do better. I think the team will be in a better state for the next game against Haiti on Friday. We believe in our ability and the coaching staff has played a part in helping us prepare and believe as well,” he added.
“We will continue to see ourselves advancing from the opening stage and hopefully go on to greater things here.”
