Jan-Michael Williams definitely had a great moment and maybe one of the best of the match at the Red Bull Arena on Monday night. His tremendous one hand reflex save to deny Mark Blanco’s close range overhead kick in the closing stages was a definite highlight and the save of the tournament so far.
“I just reacted. It was pure instinct at the time,” said the St Ann’s Rangers custodian.
“There was no way a defeat would have been a good result and I had to do my part to pay back the boys for their efforts in the match. We conceded twice but we stuck to the task and every player gave a whole-hearted effort. I felt proud and the moment I made the save I know there was no way we were going down.
“I think we can definitely go on to play better in the remaining games an try to seal one of the places for the next stage,” Williams added.
Williams regained the number one place after being sidelined following his exit from W Connection which saw him move to St Ann’s Rangers.
“I have no regrets. I’ve just kept on working hard at my game and hopefully I can continue to improve and keep representing the national team and also excel at the club level,” Williams said.
