MEMBERS OF the Hungary League (OTP Bank Liga) football team Ferencvaros have paid tribute to ex-Trinidad and Tobago footballer Akeem Adams, who died on December 30 after a stroke, three months after a heart attack at his Hungary apartment.

The 22-year-old Adams joined Ferencvaros as a free agent in August.

And, on Sunday, Ferencvaros defeated Paksi FC 2-0 to finish in third place and earn a spot in the First Qualifying Round of the 2014-2015 UEFA Europa League.

Defender Philipp Bonig opened the scoring in the 54th minute, while midfielder Leonardo converted a penalty eight minutes from full time.

After the final whistle, a big celebration started on the pitch with team players and officials each putting on t-shirts commemorating the life of Adams.

Defender Gabor Gyomber, on the team’s website, said, “this season was very bumpy with ups and downs. We had Akeem’s unfortunate death, which we had to leave behind but finally it worked out well. I am thankful for being the team captain, I tried to do my best in order to serve the team, serve the supporters and the whole club.”
