The ’Strike Squad’, as the 1989 Trinidad and Tobago national team were fondly known, will re-assemble in aid of Haiti.
In a bid to assist the relief effort in earthquake-stricken Haiti, the Strike Squad will host several fund-raising events. Entitled ’Haiti You Are Not Forgotten’, the proceeds of this activity will go directly towards the rebuilding of the Haitian Football Association.
The events will take the form of a walkathon and family fun day. Organisers also plan a four-team invitational football tournament among a team of doctors, Unit Trust, Central Bank and the Strike Squad.
The Fun Day will be held on May 8 at Skinner Park, San Fernando and will be preceded by the walkathon, which starts at 6 a.m. at the Band Stand, Harris Promenade, San Fernando.
From the Band Stand, runners will proceed down Penitence Street, up High Street onto Coffee Street, down Cipero Street and finish at Skinner Park, where the Fun Day activities go into action from 2 p.m.
The Fun Day will include live musical performances by top local artistes in T&T, a car show and fun games, among other events.
