The recent death of Colin Agostini evokes many memories of this special person.

He was a good athlete because he worked at it. On the eve of one CIC Sports, Olympic sprinter Georgie Lewis came to give some tips. Colin was the only one who had any intelligent questions to ask. On Sports Day he won many races including the mile, astutely using the 75yards handicap that juniors like him were entitled to, and the Victor Ludorum trophy.

Later we heard on that morning he had run from home in Braemar Road, Cascade, to Serpentine Road and back, to warm up! He was a good footballer because he worked at it. When heading tennis was introduced at lunch time in the college Big Yard, he was there in his blue shirt and long khaki pants sweating to develop his heading and other skills.

He was a good student because he worked at it. In Form Six he got his HC, then went to UWI in Mona and came back to teach at CIC. He was a good citizen because he worked at it.

He and Jeannie opened their home some afternoons every month so senior citizens in the area could come and chat.

He was a good Christian because he worked at it. For some time he used to accompany Jeannie to 6pm Sunday Mass at St Ann’s Church since she was a part of the choir.

And he was probably a good ham radio operator because his front yard for many years had one of the biggest aerial dishes imaginable. May Colin rest in peace. To Jeannie and her children our sincerest condolences.
