St Anthony's College play what may be their most crucial match of the 2004 Secondary Schools Football League season today when they take on league leaders Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive at their Westmoorings ground from 3.45 p.m.
The "Tigers" of St Anthony's are four points behind Mucurapo (21 points) and n danger of losing their North Zone crown and, with it, any hopes of regaining their National League title.
A win here for Mucurapo would give them a huge advantage and only sloppy play from then on would prevent them from taking honours in the North.
A determined St Anthony's line-up, however-with a wealth of offensive talent-will have other ideas as they seek revenge over the only team that has defeated them this season, with a last-minute wonder of a goal.
Also in the North, third-place Fatima (14) will host the "Saints" of CIC (13) at their Mucurapo Road ground, as they try to emulate their first round performance when they blanked CIC 3-0.
St Mary's, though, have other ideas, as they look to take over third spot.
At the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Malick Senior Comprehensive (12) try to move back up the ranks when they face lowly Tranquillity (1) after falling to fifth with their draw with St Anthony's last Thursday, while Morvant/Laventille (4) attempt to overhaul QRC (9) at QRC ground and move within two points of the Royalians.
St Augustine Senior Secondary aim to tighten their grip on the East Zone league title when they visit a weak Barataria Senior Secondary side, while Arima hope to stay in contention when they journey to Valencia, mindful they also have a match in hand against the same team.
St George's College and Hillview College get set to lock horns at St George's as the home team try to break into the top four, and an unpredictable El Dorado squad face second-place San Juan Senior Secondary San Juan at San Juan.
Marabella Junior Secondary will look to continue their impressive Central Zone run in their first season and they will try to overcome an 8-0 drubbing by Presentation College Chaguanas in their opening round one match, as they play away to "Pres".
In the other two Central Zone fixtures, Carapichaima Senior Comprehensive will expect to repeat their 4-0 trouncing of Tabaquiite at the Ato Boldon Stadium, while Chaguanas Senior Comprehensive try to catch Tabaquite against cellar-placed Union Claxton Bay Secondary.
All matches are scheduled to begin at 3.45 p.m.
