A double from Quinn Rodney on either side of the break was enough for Shiva Boys to see off St Anthony’s College as action continued in the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) premiership division at Irwin Park, Siparia.
Rodney fired in the opener on the 15th minute and teammate Ronaldo Edwards made it 2-0 in the 37th. But Darren John halved the deficit on the stroke of halftime to give the “Westmoorings Tigers” something to look forward to in the second half. A tense second period was settled in the 86th minute with Rodney finding the scoresheet again to decide the match.
Presentation College San Fernando kept pace with Shiva Boys after thrashing Fyzabad Secondary 6-0 in an afternoon stroll at Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre.
At St Mary’s Grounds though, the hosts CIC shocked defending champions Naparima College by holding them to a 1-1 draw. The result sees Naps slip five points behind the leaders but with a game in hand.
