Four players were handed suspensions by the disciplinary committee of the Secondary Schools Football League yesterday following a fracas that broke out on the field during a clash with Carapichaima East Secondary and Presentation College last Saturday at Carapichaima Ground.

Carapichaima midfielder Theophilus Bourne and defender Brandon St Clair, as well as Presentation’s Omri Baird and Sherwin Noel were handed red cards for their involvement in an on-the-field fight, but after a careful assessment of the incident, the League’s disciplinary committee upgraded the penalty by slapping St Clair with a four-match suspension, while Bourne, Baird and Noel were hit with two-match suspensions.

Both schools are allowed three days in which to lodge an appeal but it must be accompanied by a fee of $1, 000. Contacted Ashbert Charles of Carapichaima said his school will not be appealing the decision although he felt Bourne had been unfairly hit with the suspension. ‘Pres’ manager Andre Benjamin echoed similar sentiments on the punishment but he too said Omri was merely a by-stander in the incident.
