Chaguanas North Secondary will compete in next year’s Secondary Schools Football League Premier Division.
This after Chaguanas pulled off a 1-0 win over the already promoted Fatima College in their final match at Edinburgh 500 Recreation, Chaguanas, on Saturday.
With the win, Chaguanas North finished with six points from four matches, one behind Fatima, while Moruga Secondary ended atop the standings with seven points as well and a better goal-difference of plus-six to Fatima’s plus-four, despite a 1-0 loss at Arima North Secondary yesterday.
The win improved Arima North to six points as well, level with Chaguanas and gave them a fighting chance to clinch the final qualifying spot for the top flight. However, with their win over Fatima, Chaguanas North ended with an even goal aggregate having scored and allowed seven goals each, while Arima North finished with a minus-two aggregate.
This meant the three promoted teams at the end of the competition were Moruga Secondary, Fatima College and Chaguanas North. These teams will replace the North Zone duo Trinity College Moka and St Mary’s College in the Premiership next season after they were demoted at the end of this season’s competition.
