Bradley Lawrence scored twice to guide North Zone leaders, the Subway-sponsored “Westmoorings Tigers” St Anthony’s to a nail-biting 4-3 win over Fatima as the Championship Division of the BG Trinidad and Tobago Secondary Schools Football League continued.
Lawrence got his second on the stroke of half-time before another TT U-17 player, defender Sheldon Bateau, converted a 50th minute freekick to reduce the deficit to 3-2.
Qian Grovesnor put the “Tigers” 4-2 ahead in the 52nd but Bateau gave Fatima a glimmer of hope with his second, in stoppage time. However, it was a little too late for the hosts.
Randy Castillo netted a double as Malick kept up the pressure on the “Tigers” with a 4-2 spanking of dethroned champs Mucurapo at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.
National Under-17 defender Robert Primus and Kaydaye Gabriel added one each for Malick while Jovan James and Muta Taylor responded for Mucurapo.
And the clash between Diego Martin and Trinity ended in a 2-2 draw at Diego Martin with Kevon Duram and Jeremy McMeo scoring for the visitors.
Naparima and Princes Town battled to an exciting 1-1 draw in the top of the table South Zone contest at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. Anthony Parris’ second-half strike seemed to be enough for the reigning champs Naps before Kareem Balthazar responded in stoppage time.
The second game of the double-header saw Presentation San Fernando spank St Bene-dict’s 3-0 with items from Akeem Marshall (30th), Jerome Diaz (80th) and Jamaal Clarence (86th).
Vessigny got a double from Keegan Bacchus as they edged hosts Siparia 2-1, despite a Daniel Henry strike for the struggling Siparia.
Carapichaima, who successfully retained their Central Zone crown, extended their winning streak to eight matches with a 3-2 result away to Waterloo. Michael Renaud got a pair for Carapichaima while Phillip Wickham added the other. Wendell Archibald and Malcolm Nedd replied for the hosts.
Deleon Massy notched a hat-trick while Shane Katwaroo and Dane Taylor chipped in with one each for Marabella as they trounced last-placed Tabaquite 5-0 at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva while the contest between Chaguanas Secondary and Presentation Chaguanas did not play due to the absence of the match officials.
San Juan stayed top in the East Zone after a 5-1 hammering of the visiting Toco, with Kareem Girod, Kevin McNeil, Elijah Manners, Keston Jackie and Akil James on target for the hosts.
But 2006 champs, the “Green Machine” St Augustine, remained in second place after whipping the “Dial Dynamos” Arima 3-0 at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima. Mason Hall remained ahead in the Tobago Zone following a 1-0 win against Bishop High at Shaw Park, Scarborough.
