Any one of three players, Shahdon Winchester, Kevin Molino or Sheldon Bateau, can walk away with the “Footballer of the Year” award when the Secondary Schools Football League holds its prize-giving function today at the Rudranath Capildeo Learning Resource Centre, Couva, from 4 pm.
Winchester starred in the front-line for Naparima, which won the National Big Five League and South Zone league.

Midfield maestro, Molino skippered Mucurapo to win the National InterCol and North Zone league and InterCol. He was a member of the national Under-17 team which participated in the 2007 Youth World Cup in Korea/Japan. Defender/midfielder Bateau, who was also on the national youth team in Korea/Japan, was the most outstanding player for Fatima.

Winchester, who is expected to go on a two-week trial at Sporting Braga of the Portuguese First Division, along with Molino and Bateau are expected to be included in the All Star team. Prize winners in all the divisions, including the girl’s, will be receiving awards. Director of Football Lincoln Phillips is expected to give the feature address at the function.
