It was the second match of a double-header staged at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima, following Arima Giants’ 1-0 victory over Malabar Superstars, ultimately handing the former team the other spot in the semifinal.

Jonelle opened the scoring from a close range effort, in the 20th minute, after former national goalkeeper Nicole Mitchell-Thomas failed to hold onto a shot, which subsequently fell into Warrick’s path.

Shanelle then doubled up the score for Trincity halfway through the second half, just before former national youth player Jennel Kissoon pulled one back for St Augustine.

East Zone leaders St Augustine could muster no further goals, allowing joint Premier Division league leaders Trincity Nationals, an expected berth into the last four stage of the knockout competition.

In the opening match between East Zone rivals Malabar Superstars and Arima Giants, only one goal was scored, that through a Derlee Duprey effort just before the 20 minute mark.

The two other quarterfinal matches will take place on Sunday with another double-header, this time at the Debe Recreation Ground.

Another joint Premier Division league leader Real Dimension will clash with South Zone winner Point Fortin Pioneers from 2 pm, before a duel of two Premier Division teams Defence Force and Malick City, which will kick off at 4 pm.
