A BEAVER-TRICK from Shenelle Warwick propelled Trincity Nationals to an emphatic 10-0 victory over Diego Martin when first round action of the 2016 Trinidad and Tobago Women’s League Football (TT WoLF) First Division kicked off over the weekend.

Warrick spearheaded the one-sided affair by finding the back of the net on four occasions while teammate Ranelle Pascal recorded a hattrick.

Adanya Phillip also scored a brace with Nia Honore bagging another for the Trincity Nationals.

In the other First Division fixture, Malvern defeated Norther Rush 2-1.

Meanwhile in the Women’s Super League on Saturday, newly promoted teams Queen’s Park and Club Sando, played to a goalless draw while, at the Mahaica Oval, matches got underway approximately 45 minutes late due to the absence of the scheduled officials.

In the first match, St Ann’s Rangers pulled off a 2-0 win against Petrotrin with goals coming from Jo-Marie Lewis and Brittney Williams.

The following encounter saw home team Point Fortin Pioneers salvage a 1-1 result against a persistent St Augustine unit.

The hosts went ahead with a strike from Denecia Prince while Kadie Johnson, Secondary Schools Football League 2015 Female Player of the Year, levelled the pegging for St Augustine later on.

On Sunday, WI Sports Real Dimension faced the Tobago Chicas, as guests in the launch of the Central Zone season, at the Hugo Francis Recreational Ground.

WI Sports Real Dimension emerged 2-1 victors courtesy goals from Shalette Alexander and Marlique Asson. Kristen Julian scored Tobago Chicas’ consolation.

Additionally, this weekend also marked a special moment for women in football and women in sports as Dernelle Mascall (Club Sando Moruga) became the only female head coach to ever lead a team in the National Super League.

Mascall also became the first female coach to win a match at this level as her team earned a nail-biting 3-2 win over WASA.

When asked about her first win and being the first female to coach in the Men’s Super League, Mascall opted to stay away from the excitement and stated that she was already focusing on her next session and areas in which her team needed to improve.

Mascall also started an Academy last November in Moruga, Mascall Football Academy, as she and her MFA coaches try to encourage and mentor the youths in her community.

Academy sessions are on Saturdays and Saturdays at the Basse Terre Recreational Ground in Moruga.
