Trincity Nationals’ Jonelle Warrick emulated Kennya “Ya Ya” Cordner of Adams’ Construction San Juan Jabloteh seven-goal performance as she led her club past Tunapuna Titans 13-1 at Constantine Park, Tunapuna, on Monday.
Cordner had netted seven in Jabloteh’s 15-0 hammering of Arima Giants in their Lucky Bakery-sponsored National Women's Super League organised by the Eastern Football Association on Friday at Barataria Oval. However, while the rest of the country celebrated “Emancipation Day” on Monday, Warrick and her team-mates had Titans chained to its own-half for most of the match.
Warrick, who has represented T&T women’s team at junior level found the target in the 12th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 37th, 65th and 80th minutes while Nikisha James added a double, in the 27th and 89th minutes. The others scorers for Trincity which led 8-1 at the half were Nerisha Parris (14th), Aimey Kasbally (31st), Kadijah Thornhill (48th), the sister of Defence Force striker Dexter Thornhill and Clarissa Delzin, in the 85th minute.
Shadelle Fortune had netted in the 19th minute for Titans to 2-1, but that was as close as they came. Trincity is now fourth on the table with ten points from six matches, five behind leaders’ Jabloteh which has maximum 15 points from five matches.
The T&T Under-17 team is second with 14 points from six matches, while former national women’s champions, Water One Real Dimension are third with 11 points.
