St Clair Coaching School made a successful defence of its Tobago Football Association Premier Division title without kicking a ball at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet on Wednesday night.
This after its scehduled opponents, Leeds United failed to show for their encounter, the first match of a double-header.
With the default victory, St Clair carried its points tally to an un-assailable 52 points from 18 matches, and two left to play. It was the second title defended by St Clair this season after it retained the FA title while it also holds the Community Shield.
Second placed Sidey’s with 42 points from 17 matches cannot catch St Clair, even if it wins its remaining matches while Roxborough Lakers is third with 33 points from its 20 matches. Lakers got a goal each from Ackeel Sterling and Glenroy Federick in a 2-1 defeat of Taylor’s Rentals Goal City in Wednesday’s other match at Bacolet.
St Clair will now compete in the T&T Football Federation “Champion of Champions” for a second straight year with the hope of qualifying for the bmobile National Super League.
Southern Football Assocaition champion, Siparia Spurs is the only other association winner to have qualified so far while the Northern Football Association, Central Football Association and Eastern Counties Football Union are yet to crown a champion.
In the First Division, Youth Stars lead with 42 points from 18 matches followed by Carnbee/Mt Pleasant with 40 and a match in hand. Hills United lies in third spot with 39 followed by Earlbrokes (36), Bethel United (35) and HV Milan (27) to round off the top six.
