A new champion was crowned on June 11 in the 6th edition of Buccoo Ball Park League.
Playing before a massive and vibrant crowd at the Buccoo Integrated Facility carpark, newcomers Bliss United defeated LD United 2-0 to lift the coveted title.
Miguel George was the scorer of both goals for the winners. George was Bliss' main man in front of goal throughout the tournament; scoring a Golden Boot winning nine goals. He was rewarded with $1,000, sponsored by Rachad Men's Store.
The Chance Street Buccoo based team (formerly called Remmie's), upset defending champs Fix Meh Nice 1-0 in the semis, to pocket the winning purse of $5000 sponsored by Jano Rentals while LD United took home $3000, sponsored by Solomon Contracting Services.
Meantime, last year's champs Fix Meh Nice ended the season in fourth place after being beaten 3-2 by Vel City in the third place playoff. Vel City earned $2000 for their efforts, contributed by NLCB Buccooneers.
The low keyed prize giving ceremony, saw remarks from the area reprentative Mr Ancil Dennis, Assistant Secretary in the Division of Community Development and Culture as well as, a representative of title sponsors Jano Rentals, Mr Kaylon Campbell.
2017 will see Buccoo Ball Park League gear up for it 7th anniversary - it's much more than football!
