THE TOBAGO Football Association (TFA) are planning to establish a Tobago Football Academy.
TFA president Anthony Moore stated this after member clubs approved the 2016 audited accounts of the Association, and the proposed 2017-2018 budget.
The academy, to be based at Kendal, will give the TFA a home to provide a “Home for Football” in Tobago in order to optimise its resources.
The announcements were made at the TFA’s Annual General Meeting attended by 16 of the 21 registered clubs while two others were afforded observer status.
This AGM was held under the new constitution on Tuesday.
In a news release issued, it stated that under the New Rules, club delegates must provide written authorisation in order to participate at the AGM.
In addition, member clubs were required to provide copies of their constitution audited financial statements and paid membership fees to the TFA.
Moore said, however, clubs are still coming to grips with the new FIFA/TTFA requirements.
Delegates would serve for four years under the constitution but can be removed at the AGM.
Moore and his team were elected into office unopposed since opposing candidates were declared null and void as they were nominated by a non-member affiliate.
Officers elected were: president Moore; vice-presidents Samuel Orr, Ryell Davis, Denise Winchester.
Ordinary board members are Kelvon Morris, Natasha Francis and Hayden Duke.
Meanwhile, clubs must obtain a CONCACAF C Licence in order to participate in competitions for the 2017 season.
And this year’s action in the TFA will begin on June 8 with the Second Division teams.
But Premier Division action is scheduled to kick off on June 24 .
