Youth football will hold centre stage in Tobago this weekend. Tobago Under 17 and Under 20 teams will be involved in three matches against high-profile opponents over the weekend.
There will be two Groups of four teams each for the tournament and one of the Groups in which the USA is in will be hosted in Tobago.
The USA played some games in Trinidad before coming toTobago as they are using the tour to acclimatise themselves to the conditions and as part of their preparations.
This game will be a serious test for the Tobago youngsters and should give coach Campbell and the TFA an indication of where their youth football is on the international stage.
Tomorrow (Saturday), the Under 17 team, some of whose players are also in the Under 20 line-up will play against the Trinidad and Tobago Under 20 team that is also preparing for the CONCACAF Qualifying tournament but they will be competing in the Group based in Trinidad.
Head coach of the National Under 17 team, Anton Corneal was impressed with what he saw when he hosted a trial session in Tobago recently but felt he needed to see the players he had earmarked in a competitive situation, hence the reason for the games.
The Tobago Under 20 team will be back in action on Sunday when they compete against the National Under 17 team including the Tobago players that Corneal would have selected in another friendly match. All games will be played at Shaw Park.
