KENNYA CORDNER, the national women’s footballer, and team captain Maylee Attin-Johnson will both miss the remainder of the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) after they both underwent knee operations in Canada recently.

Cordner, the speedy striker/winger, is the franchise player selected for Wave FC, while Attin-Johnson, who can play both as a forward or a central midfielder, posted photos of their legs, on social media network Facebook.

The outspoken 29-year-old Attin-Johnson, who came on as a second- half substitute to score the equaliser in TT’s 2-2 draw against Argentina at the Pan Am Games, blogged, “when you realise you love your country, but then come to the realisation that your country don’t love you.”

And Cordner shared the view of her TT skipper, saying, “as my skipper say ‘you love your country but your country don’t love you’. Out for two months, I’ll be back.”

The 26-year-old Cordner sustained a grade two strained MCL in her left knee while scoring for Trinidad and Tobago against Colombia last week at the Pan Am Games.

And Attin-Johnson has been plagued with knee injuries within recent times, which resulted in her playing in the central midfield role during Trinidad and Tobago’s unsuccessful qualification campaign for the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada.
