The national Under-17 football women’s team ended its first international tour on a high note following a 3-1 victory over El Salvador’s national U-20 women’s team on Saturday evening. The match was played at El Salvador’s Estadio Cuscatlan in Santa Tecla.

Head coach Even Pellerud says the girls were prepared for a battle and after their last defeat, the local girls had a score to settle

“This is the same team we faced last week. El Salvador’s National U-20 team is a very strong team, the girls are more experienced but I am extremely proud of our team. The national U-17 team took charge of the game from kick off time.” Brianna Ryce opened the scoring for T&T in the 16th minute while Sydney Hoareau put the visitors up by two goals in the 30th. Maria Andreina Noyola Sanchez pulled one back for El Salvador in the 32nd but Khadidra Debisette hammered the nail in the coffin for T&T in the 44th.

The third goal was scored on a direct header by Khadidra Debisette following a great corner kick from Sidonia Hoareau. Pellerud says the team now heads back to T&T with a renewed confidence, a much better understanding of international football and a better knowledge about how to win games. The head coach thanked the T&T Football Federation and special advisor Jack Warner for their continued support of not only the national U-17 team but for the development of women’s football in T&T.
