Trinidad and Tobago’s Under-17 women’s footballers continue preparation for the Trinidad & Tobago 2010 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup with a two-match tour of Mexico.

’We are going to Mexico with the under-17 team,’ stated Even Pellerud, T&T’s Norwegian Director of Women’s Football, at a press conference at the CONCACAF office, Edward Street, Port-of-Spain, yesterday.

’For the under-17 team it will be a next week departure on Tuesday. We play Mexico under-17 national team two games, on November 26 and November 28.’

T&T travel to Mexico with a 20-member squad comprising 14 home-based players and six foreign-based footballers. Pellerud, who is preparing T&T to host the World Cup next year, said his players train seven times per week and had improved significantly both in terms of fitness and tactically, but at this stage needed to play high quality international opponents.

’So it is a short trip to Mexico City. Two very exciting games, and that will be the first international matches since we played El Salvador in August,’ he said.

’I am very confident in what we are doing but the next step for us is to play more international games, so that what we think is right can be confirmed that we are on the right track.

We can only find out we are on the right track or not by competing, and this is the first few steps in terms of international games for this team.’
