Shane De Silva and Cindy Mohammed will be the pair of Trinidad and Tobago officials who were assigned for the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup, which will be staged here, in the twin-island republic, from September 5-25.
De Silva and Mohammed, who are both 37 years of age, have been on the FIFA international panel since 2002, and shared duties a the 2006 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Championships in Russia and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
Mohammed was also part of the officiating panel at the 2007 Women’s World Cup in China, but De Silva missed that competition for maternal reasons.
Besides hosts Trinidad and Tobago, the other participants are Canada and Mexico (North and South America Zone), Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa (Africa Zone), Japan, North Korea and South Korea (Asia Zone), Germany, Republic of Ireland, Spain (Europe Zone), Brazil, Chile and Venezuela (South America Zone) and New Zealand (Oceania Zone).
The World Cup will take place in five venues across the country - the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo, the Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar, the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella and the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Tobago.
