A 1-1 draw with hosts Cuba yesterday was not enough to put Trinidad and Tobago into the final round CONCACAF Under-20 Women's World Cup qualifying.
Trinidad and Tobago needed victory over the Cubans to fight for one of three spots available in the two groups of Caribbean qualifiers.
Janelle McGee put T&T ahead in the first half, but the equaliser put paid to T&T's chances of moving forward, as they finished second in the group with four points. The better second-place finishers of the two groups were Jamaica, who won their final encounter to finish with six points.
Earlier in the day, Guyana upset Puerto Rico 1-0, giving T&T the chance to top the group with victory over Cuba. But T&T could not secure full points, which ends a battling run by the young "Soca Princesses".
T&T lost their first encounter to Puerto Rico 1-0 after losing their goalkeeper to go down to ten players. They recovered with a 1-0 win over Guyana, but in their final match, a draw was not enough.
