Mariah Shade will captain the T&T U-20 women’s team when it meets St Kitts in its opening match of the Caribbean Football Union’s Tournament beginning on Wednesday at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya.

The four nation tournament which ends on Sunday will also feature Cuba and Jamaica which will face each other in the first match of the evening from 5 pm.

The U-20 team put a comprehensive 4-1 beating on its U-17 counterparts on Saturday evening at Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, in a final warm-up match before its opening encounter with St Kitts in the Caribbean Football Union Tournament on Wednesday.

Natasha St Louis scored two of the U-20s goals, while Karissa Rodney and Latifah Kelly netted the other two with Jo-Marie Lewis being the lone scorer for the U-17s.

Assistant coach Marlon Charles said he was excited to see how the players mix with the U-20’s just beginning to adapt to technical director, women’s football, Even Pellerud’s philosophy of a more aggressive play on the field.

The final team of 20, includes eight foreign based players and three U-17 players in Kayla Taylor, Camille Borneo and goal keeper, Linfah Jones.

The top three teams at the end of the tournament will qualify for the Concacaf Final Round competition in Guatemala next January, where they will meet football powerhouses USA, Mexico, Canada, and Costa Rica in a bid to qualify for the U-20 Women’s World Cup later in the year.
