Sean Aberdeen scored a hat-trick on Sunday as Highlanders FC hammered Cap Off Youths 8-1 in the Central Football Association (CFA) League at Frederick Settlement, Caroni.
Also on target for Highlanders were Daniel Wells, Johanthan John and Richard Tyson.
The result was the perfect remedy for the Caroni-based team who were coming off a disappointing 5-3 defeat to St Mary’s FC on Friday. The loss was a crucial blow to Highlanders chances of advancing to the “Big 6” and securing a place in the Super League.
Aberdeen and Raphael got their name on the score sheet with penalty kicks while Kyle Thomson added the other for Highlanders.
The team is currently preparing for the final league game against Couva Sports and will be desperate for victory to keep their post-season alive. They will need, however, other results to go in their favour to secure a place in the “Big 6”.
Aberdeen, Highlanders’ top scorer for the season, continued his prolific form while Jabari Raphael notched a double.
