Senior men's soccer player Sean de Silva (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad) and junior volleyball player Darcy Dorton (Muncie, Ind.) earned College of Charleston Student-Athlete of the Week honors sponsored by Piggly Wiggly for the week of Oct. 8.
A pre-business administration major, de Silva scored two goals and tallied an assist for a five-point night in the Cougars' 3-0 win over Appalachian State at home on Saturday. The win was the first in SoCon play for the Cougars as de Silva leads the squad with four goals and three assists on the season.
A psychology major and transfer from Penn State, Dorton helped the Cougars to a 2-1 week with wins over Coastal Carolina and Wofford. The SoCon leader in kills, she averaged 4.45 kills per set including a 17-kill performance in the Cougars' sweep of Wofford, a new career high for the most kills in a three-set match. Dorton also averaged nearly three digs per set for CofC.
