Wayland Baptist University women's soccer player Emarie Holland and men's soccer player John-Ramses Thomas were named Sooner Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for September 23-29.
Holland, a senior sweeper from Burkburnett, Texas, scored two goals to go with one assist in a 3-1 win over Mid-America Christian. In scoring twice, Holland broke the WBU single season record for goals with 10. Holland is the first women's soccer player to receive SAC Player of the Week honors this season.
Thomas, a junior goalkeeper from Plymouth, Tobago, posted four saves and a shutout win over Mid-America Christian for his fifth shutout of the season. Thomas is Wayland's first defensive player of the week of the season. Erik Luzanilla was named SAC Offensive Player of the Week on September 16.
Both teams travel to Chickasha, Okla. Tuesday to take on the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. The women play at 1 p.m. and the men will play at 3 p.m.
