Nine Trinidad and Tobago women footballers have received athletic scholarships in the United States.

 

According to a media release from the Trinidad and Tobago Women’s Football Association, among the nine players are midfielder Candace Edwards and striker Bianca Walker, members of the national team who emerged victorious in Group “A” of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Under-20 World Cup qualifiers last week.

Edwards will join fellow Tobagonian Kennya Cordner at Young Harris College, Georgia, while Walker will attend Rice University in Houston, Texas.

Goalkeeper Gail-Ann Thomas, defender Jemilia Mathlin, striker Kermica Alexander and Kelly-May Christopher will go to South Georgia College while Jeneil Nivet will enroll at Brewton Parker College, Georgia. Allready at Brewton Parker is Patrice Superville and Afiya Castle.

Defender Alana Lum York heads to Louisiana Tech University where she will join up with former Providence HS defender Chinaka Springer. Nadia James joins country woman Jenelle Nedd at West Texas AM University.
