In a dominating performance, the Barry men’s soccer team advanced to the Sunshine State Conference tournament semifinals with a 3-0 win on Tuesday against the Florida Tech Panthers.

With 20:00 minutes off the clock in the first half, Barry striker Mark Anderson blasted a shot from 22 yard out into the back of the net. Anderson took the Joao Garcia pass from just outside the box and fired the shot home into the upper 90. Rodrigo Mancenido was also credited for an assist on the Anderson goal. The goal is Anderson’s 15 this season.

The half ended with a 1-0 Buccaneer advantage. The Barry defense did not allow a single shot on goal during the first half and only allowed four total shots.

The first Barry goal during the second half came from the head of freshman Christian Yidios. Again Mancenido gave the assist on the goal as well as Anderson. Yidios headed the ball into the back of the net from six yards out. This season Yidios has only seen action in five games. The goal his is first of this career.

The final goal came from freshman Kendall Sealy. Anderson fed Sealy at the corner of the box then Sealy dribbled around the sliding Panther goalkeeper and struck the ball into an empty net. The goal is Sealy’s sixth this season. Anderson’s double-assist night ranks him tied for third on the team.

Freshman goalkeeper Johnny Rodrigues posted his sixth career shutout in addition to three saves. The Buccaneer defense allowed only three total shots on goal.

The win advances the Buccaneers to the semifinals on Friday against Rollins at Tampa. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Pregame coverage starts at 5:00 p.m. on the Buccaneer Broadcasting Network.
