The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team took a 3-1 defeat against Mount Union as part of the Wittenberg Tournament in Springfield, Ohio on Sunday afternoon.

Freshman newcomer Stefan John opened scoring in the 19th minute, recording his second goal of the season.  John battled for the header off a cross from the right to find the opening in the upper right corner of the net.

Mount Union tied the game just before the end of the first half, and secured the win with two follow-up goals in the second half.

Goalkeeper Robert Weigand tallied four saves in the loss.

Mount Union earned the tournament title, with the Raiders' Joey Merlo being named as the tournament MVP.

The Cardinals, now 0-5-2, return to action on Saturday as they travel to Hoboken, N.J. to take on the Stevens Ducks in Fisher's Empire 8 season-opener.
