Keagan BacchusFreshman striker Keagan Bacchus (Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago) tallied the match-winning goal with 3:09 left in the second 10-minute overtime period, giving Mid-Continent University (5-3-1, 3-0-0 TSAC) a 2-1 TranSouth conference men's soccer victory over previously undefeated Union University (8-1-0; 2-1-0 TSAC), Saturday, October 2, in Jackson, Tennessee. MCU is 2-1-1 in its four overtime matches this season.

The victory sets up a battle for first place in the TSAC with Mid-Continent hosting Bethel University (6-3-1, 3-0 TSAC) at MCU's Cougar Soccer Complex on the Mayfield campus, Tuesday, October 5, at 2:00 p.m.

Bacchus, pictured above on the right, scored the Golden Goal after 106 minutes, 51 seconds of action, his fourth goal of the season in his fourth match of the season. Freshman defender Jan Chvojan (Plzen, Czech Republic), pictured on the right, earned his third assist of the season on the decisive play.

Union midfielder Dejan Kostic put the Bulldogs ahead, 1-0, with his third goal of the season, a penalty kick at the 17:26 mark of the first half, and Mid-Continent's Algeon Sappleton (Kingston, Jamaica), pictured just below, knotted the score at 1-1 at 28:44 with his first goal in 43 matches during his four-year MCU career.

The Bulldogs outshot MCU, 4-2, in the first half, with MCU freshman goalkeeper Andres Blanco (Valencia, Spain/Pio XII HS) saving 3 first-half shots on goal, and Union's James Landham saving one MCU shot on goal. Union was whistled for seven offsides violations in the first half, and MCU attempted two corner-kick opportunities.

The teams battled through a scoreless second 90-minute half, with Union holding a 4-2 edge in shots in the half, but neither side managed any shots on goal in the last 33 minutes of the half. Blanco saved another shot on goal, and the MCU defensive back line saved another.

During the first 10-minute overtime, both sides attempted 3 shots, and Blanco,pictured on the right, saved all 3 shots he faced, while Landham saved the only shot on goal that came his way.

Mid-Continent totaled 8 shots in the match, putting 5 on goal, and Union totaled 13 shots, including 10 on goals. Blanco saved 8 shots on goal, and Landham finished with 3 saves. Both sides attempted 3 corner kick opportunities, and Union committed 24 fouls while MCU was whistled for 14. Bacchus shot 3 times, putting 2 on goal, and junior forward Mauricio Da Silva (Porto Alegre, Brazil) attempted 4 shots in the match with 2 directly on goal.
