Sophomore Brendon Boucaud (St. Anns, Trinidad & Tobago) scored on a free kick just more than one minute into overtime to give the Central Methodist University men's soccer team a 2-1 win over Iowa Wesleyan College Wednesday night.

After battling to a 1-1 tie in regulation, CMU needed just 1:07 in overtime to get its second win of the season. A foul by Iowa Wesleyan gave the Eagles a free kick from around the 20-yard line, where Boucaud curled the ball into the near side of the net to give CMU the win.

Iowa Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 27th minute. CMU had several chances, but was unable to score the equalizer until the final minute of the first half. Senior Thyago Catharino (Sao Paulo, Brazil) made a pass to the opposite side of the field, and senior Kyle Redd (Keller, Texas) fired the ball into the net to tie the score at 1-1 with just 48.8 seconds remaining in the first half.

CMU out-shot Iowa Wesleyan 24-15 in the game. The Eagles had 12 shots on goal, while Iowa Wesleyan finished with just five shots on goal. Junior Corey Schelle (Godfrey, Ill.) played all 91:07 in goal for CMU, finishing with four saves.

Central Methodist improved to 2-1 on the season with the win. Iowa Wesleyan dropped to 0-3 overall. The Eagles will return to action with a 5:30 p.m. contest Saturday against Northwestern College at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan.
