Midfielder Carlos Edwards is back on the field and seems to be getting back to his old self again.

Sidelined for close to a year with a devastating knee injury which required surgery and intense rehab, Edwards has forced his way back into the Millwall starting team and set up their 21st minute opening goal in a 3-1 win over Crewe Alexandra in English League One action on the weekend.

He played his second game in four days as Millwall defeated Port Vale 2-0 on Tuesday. Edwards played the game in its entirety as Millwall moved to 12th spot on the league table

In the previous win over Crewe, the former Army man worked a one two with Steve Morrison before playing the final pass for Aiden O’Brien to net the opening goal.

His return to the team has coincided with three wins in a row for Millwall.

“It’s remarkable to see that I can play two games and make the starting team after coming back from this kind of injury. I think a lot of people thought it would be hard for me to comeback. I even thought long about it but a lot of belief, hard work and long hours in rehab has brought me to where I am now and I’m extremely grateful for that,” said the 36-year-old Edwards.
