Aurtis Whitley who ended his decade old playing career with San Juan Jabloteh has made his first appearance with fiercest rivlas W Connection who he joined earlier this week.

Whitley made a low-key debut in Connection's 7-0 demolition of Police FC at the Ato Boldon Stadium on Saturday and is eager to prove his worth at the Central outfit.

Following the match Whitley told ‘ttproleague.com’ he feels relieved to be at W Connection and just wants to play football.

He said, “I am playing with a club that I am comfortable with. Everybody welcomed me with open arms and I just want to take advantage of the chance I’m getting with Connection,” said the Trinidad and Tobago World Cup player.

After a lengthy spell away from first team football, Whitley said a return to playing has rekindled his love for the game.

“I missed it for a while. It feels good coming out here and playing. It brings back the love I had for the game.”

The midfielder will be hoping to secure a starting spot during the First Citizens Cup but his biggest obstacle however is his lack of match fitness.

“I am not really 100% fit right now but I will work on it in the coming weeks,” he assured.

He is also hoping that a recall to the senior National team is not too far off, especially when the impasse with the Federation and the World Cup 2006 players is resolved.

He said, “Hopefully when the situation is resolved and I am fit and the coach comes to see me play, hopefully I will get a recall.”

For the moment, Whitley is focusing on helping the club move up in the League, as he has ambitions of participating in the Caribbean Club Championships, while the First Citizens Cup is another competition he wants to help do well in.
