Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force bombarded a 5-0 win over Canada’s Defence Force on Wednesday evening in Paramaribo, Suriname to advance into the semi-final round of the 2010 Armed Forces Continental Football Championship.
Trinidad and Tobago international striker Devorn Jorsling who joined his teammates on Sunday along with head coach Ross Russell netted a late hattrick against the Canadians.
Jorsling’s items came in the 73rd, 74th and 90th minutes while the other items were scored by defenders Rawle Fletcher(35th minute) and Michael Edwards(76th).
In their opening match Albert Dexter Thornhill netted a double against Suriname with items in the 45th and 55th minutes and defender Aklie Edwards slotted an item in the 65th minute before the hosts pulled back two late goals in the 70th and 80th minutes for the 3-2 finish.
The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force will be in action again on Saturday in the semi-final round against a yet to be determined opponent out of Group A(Barbados, Brazil, Ecuador and the USA).
The top two finishers of the Armed Forces Continental Football Championship, in Suriname will represent the Americas at the Fifth Edition of the Military World Games scheduled to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 12 – 24 July, 2011.
