Trinidad and Tobago's Olympic football team will take on Bermuda's Under-23 side this Christmas. The Soca Warriors will play three games during their stay on the Island, taking on the national side twice, and also facing off against Devonshire Cougars.

With domestic football taking a winter break, the Bermuda Football Association has revived the tradition of bringing in an overseas team to take on local opposition.

Jamaica were also believed to be in the frame, however it is understood they had demanded $60,000 in appearance fees, plus having hotels, food, and transport paid for on top.

"As part of it Strategic Plan, the BFA is committed to Rebuilding the Competitiveness of Bermuda football and we will continue to expose our teams to top quality competition," said BFA general secretary David Sabir.

"This three-match series will provide a barometer of the level of our football in comparison to our counterparts within the Caribbean region."

The three match series begins on December 28 when T&T take on the Under-23s with the game providing Bermuda's young guns with some useful experience against players competing in T&T's professional leagues, as well as those who are based overseas.

League champions Cougars are next two days later, with the games wrapping up on New Year's Day when the Under-23s again provide the opposition.

"The Bermuda Football Association welcomes the Soca Warriors back to Bermuda," said a BFA spokesman.

"The exciting schedule allows our promising Under-23 national team to pit themselves against professional players, while Devonshire Cougars will test themselves and advance their preparation for competing in the region's Champion's Cup Qualifying Tournament in 2010.

"Finally, the Under-23 national team will conclude the tour when they meet the Warriors for the second time on Friday, January 1. This match will be played for the BFA International Cup.

"In addition to the excitement of the matches themselves, the tour will also provide another great opportunity for our referees to apply their trade amongst foreign players competing under international conditions.

"The tour will also enable practical experience for coaches working in the BFA National Academy Programme, specifically with the U-23 national team as well the technical staff from Devonshire Cougars."
