Smarting from a 2-0 half-time deficit, Westend recovered to drop RLC in a 5-3 thriller on Saturday to go top of the four-team standings and in prime position to take the Churches Football League Premier Division Big-Four title for the first time.
The League’s Ground B winner, Westend, which defeated Daybreak 2-0 in the first Big-Four match, remains unbeaten since the start of the season.
A brave second half from Westend on Saturday saw Kareem Simon bag a double (for his third in two matches), while Adrian Marshall, Jaron Nurse and Sadiki Barton, all added to the winner’s tally.RLC got its goals via a brace from Doonell Herbert and a single effort from Quinton Forgenie.
The result required defending Big-Four champion GEMS to take a win to compete with Westend at the top, but the Group B winner suffered a 2-1 loss to Daybreak.
Jason Richardson and Jesse Bailey gave Daybreak the win, while GEMS got its goal through Kylon Gay.In the First Division, the Big-Four standing remains tight with the two opening-round winners La Horquetta and Church on the Rock (COTH) playing to a 1-1 draw.
CNC dropped D’Abadie Deliverance Sanctuary FC 4-1 to remain in the hunt. Donavon Derrick, a regular for Super League club bmobile Joe Public, scored a double, with Andre Stephenson and Brad Woodruff also on target.
All Big-Four teams will be back in action tomorrow.
